This book gives you a very clear picture of acupuncture, the history of the Chinese, the way their medical system worked, how they came to understandings without the science we have become so dependant on, for so many years. Dr. Tsang clarified a great deal for me and I shared her confusion in understandings often. I feel very sure that having access to and using both western and eastern medicine practices(depending on what is needed) can do nothing but be beneficial for us all. The book is well written and has much humor. I would like to have her as my doctor and that says it all.Thank you Dr. Tsang!

Was a very informative read and made some interesting connections on subtle effects of achieving a healthy balance. Liked the authors credentials (MD) with knowledge of Chinese language.

Having tried acupuncture to alleviate a painful "frozen" shoulder years ago, I am interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) but find its terminology baffling. Optimal Healing clears up the mysteries very quickly. The author, Dr. Patricia Tsang, is a second generation Chinese American and a classically trained Western physician, who learned TCM and integrated it into her medical practice for many years. From this unique perspective, she readily translates TCM terminology and practices into terms that lay people can easily understand. I highly recommend it for those interested in TCM as an addition to Western medical applications or for those interested in Eastern massage practices.
